Educational Programs for Professionals involved in Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump Therapy

Choose from four key programs covering Introductory, Advanced, and Technical In-services, or IABP Transport.

The following educational programs on intra-aortic balloon pumping are offered by Clinical Support Services of Datascope's Cardiac Assist Division. Please contact us to discuss your educational needs.

Mechanisms of Counterpulsation (One Hour Program)

This one-hour program is designed for health care professionals directly involved with the care of the patient requiring intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation.The program provides an overview of IABP theory, insertion, pump set up and basic troubleshooting. Recommended attendance: 10 - 15 health care professionals

Technical In-Service Program (4 Hour Program)

This four-hour presentation is designed for health care professionals with prior IABP experience and a strong knowledge base of the theory of counterpulsation. The technical aspects of the Datascope IABP are reviewed in detail. Recommended attendance: 10-15 health care professionals.

Managing IABP Therapy (6 Hour Program)

A six hour program designed for the experienced healthcare professional directly involved with care of the patient requiring intra-aortic balloon pump therapy.

Concepts of Counterpulsation Therapy (8 Hour Program)

This eight-hour seminar is designed for experienced health care professionals. The program includes a review of theory, technical aspects and clinical management of the patient receiving IABP therapy. Recommended attendance: 10-15 health care professionals.

Transport Program

This program is designed for health care professionals directly responsible for transporting a patient on the IABP. All aspects of transport are discussed. The institution may make arrangements with their ambulance or air transport services for an optional demonstration of actual transport.
