“Intra-Aortic Balloon Counterpulsation Therapy”
-- A Self Paced learning module on the theory of counterpulsation therapy.

Datascope's NEW interactive CD-ROM has been approved by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) for 1.5 contact hours; CERP Category A. View the letter on accreditation.

Meeting your ongoing educational needs:

Finding the time and budget dollars to provide continuing clinical education for critical care staff can be a challenge. This self paced program offers the flexibility for clinicians to complete the program at a time that is convenient for them and at a pace that is conducive to individual learning needs. In addition, it provides an opportunity to deliver critical care education without the added cost associated with traditional classroom instruction, such as clinical staff down time and additional personnel to provide clinical coverage during class time.

Program Description:

Educational CD Preview: Program Description

This interactive program is designed for health care professionals with experience in critical care and hemodynamic monitoring who care for patients requiring intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation.

The program covers the historical, theoretical and clinical considerations for patients receiving counterpulsation therapy. Cardiac mechanics are reviewed. The theory and timing of balloon counterpulsation, factors affecting diastolic augmentation, indications, contraindications and potential complications are discussed.

Program Objectives:

Educational CD Preview: Program Objectives

Define the physiologic effects of intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation.
Interpret arterial pressure waveform changes during counterpulsation therapy.
Identify the indications and contraindications for counterpulsation therapy.
Recognize the potential complications of counterpulsation therapy.
